The international University of British Columbia (UBC) Centre for Cultural Planning and Development is offering a new online professional development workshop “Cultural Practices and Strategies in the Digital Realm”, starting February 8.

 

Online Workshop: Cultural Practices and Strategies in a Digital Realm

3 Wednesdays, February 8, 15 & 22 from 12noon-2pm Pacific Time.

 

Learn diverse strategies and tools for creating, promoting and disseminating cultural content in the digital realm. Gain an understanding of the economic and social impacts of digitalization on cultural practices. Learn about the innovative ideas, strategies and practices being applied by organizations, networks and individual artists in a digital environment.

 

This workshop includes topics related to the digitalization of arts and cultural heritage, digital entrepreneurship in the arts, online business models, online marketing techniques, digital audiences, copyright challenges, digital partnership strategies, and policy support for digitalization in the arts and culture sector. A special emphasis is paid to the connection between cultural policy, organizational strategy, artistic creation and ongoing audience involvement in a digital realm.

 

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Lidia Varbanova has over 20 years of professional experience as a consultant, educator, researcher and manager in more than 55 countries. Her portfolio focuses on strategy, policy development, entrepreneurship and innovation, with a special emphasis on arts, culture and creative industries. Her latest books are ‘Strategic Management in the Arts’ (Routledge, 2012) and ‘International Entrepreneurship in the Arts’ (Routledge, 2016).
