Dear Colleagues,

QMUL Teaching and Learning Conference and Drapers’ Lecture

Wednesday 25 January 2017, from 12:30

Octagon and The People’s Palace

Queen Mary, University of London, Mile End Road, London, E1 4NS

I am writing to invite you to attend the Queen Mary University of London annual Teaching Lecture and Drapers’ Lecture.

The theme of this year’s conference is Teaching Excellence and Internationalisation and will feature interactive workshops, plenary lectures and a poster session. Once again we are pleased to welcome outside speakers alongside our own academics, including Chris Millward, Director (Policy) at HEFCE. Chris's plenary lecture will be on ‘Higher Education Reform 2.0: Quality, Competition and Choice’.

The conference will be followed in the evening by our eleventh annual Drapers’ Lecture on Teaching and Learning, which will take place from 18:00. This year’s lecture will be delivered by Dr. Jo Beall. The title of her lecture is ‘Intellectual Property: Rights, Risks and Rebellions in International Higher Education’. Jo is Director of Education and Society and a member of the Executive Board of the British Council.

The Drapers’ Lecture is one of the most prestigious events in QMUL’s calendar. It is endorsed by the Drapers’ Company of the City of London, who have long been associated with the work of the College. Previous Drapers’ Lectures have been delivered by Baroness Blackstone, Anne Morrison, Professor Graham Gibbs, Martin Bean, Professor Sir David Weatherall, Professor Sir David Watson, Professor Steve Smith, Professor Marcus de Sautoy, Baroness Morris of Yardley and Professor Peter McPhee.

You can view full details of the programme on our website: www.capd.qmul.ac.uk/tlconference.  Please register online via Eventbrite: http://bit.ly/DrapersLecture17.

Be great to see you there!
