Software for Data Science

Business & Industrial Section/Statistical Computing Section with University of Hertfordshire
Tuesday 14th June 2016, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
University of Hertfordshire, de Havilland campus, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL10 9EU

Effective applications of Data Science rely heavily on software for rapid aggregation, powerful data analysis and flexible presentation. The right choice of software is critical. This meeting uses three very different case studies to show how the right software can deliver convincing insights on data sets of all types and sizes. The case studies include applications of fast distributed computing in Hadoop clusters, text mining, rapid exploratory data analysis and graphical software.

This meeting will be valuable to both practitioners already implementing Data Science solutions and those considering this move, along with students and academics interested in Data Science.

The meeting is free but please register your attendance so we have an idea of numbers for catering and arrange parking. Please contact the Royal Statistical Society’s events team ([log in to unmask]).
