NIHR Research Methods Internship



2 month Summer Internship

The Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research (LICTR) at the University of Leeds is inviting applications for a summer internship of 2 months, funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), to allow one of the brightest undergraduates or graduates (from a course including a substantial mathematical or statistical component e.g. mathematics, statistics, economics or physics) to receive training and mentoring in medical statistics.

The intern will undertake a specific short term project related to clinical trials, and will gain experience in the design, analysis and interpretation of medical research studies. Training in the required statistical methods and programming languages will be provided. Responsibilities will include the reanalysis of data from a completed randomised trial and presentation of the results both in written reports and in meetings. The successful candidate will have completed either an undergraduate degree or third year of a four year degree, and will have an interest in pursuing a career in statistics or health research.

University Grade 4 (£18,212 p.a. - £20,989 p.a.) depending on qualifications and experience.
