HER Forum members may be interested in a recent research report that is now online.

As part of our support for increasing understanding of the legacy of the First World War, Historic England commissioned a study of First World War wireless stations in England.

First World War Wireless Stations have been little studied from an archaeological or historical perspective and most previous research had been technological in nature. This report, written by Jane Phimester of Oxford Archaeology, broadens our knowledge of this subject and has located a number of sites that had become “lost” to the record, through research using archives, aerial photographs of sites and synthesising secondary sources.

The project also used the CBA home front project recording methodology for its data.

You can now access a free download of this report via the Historic England website.
