Hi Tony

My only comment is that for your second item (risk to property etc) – the retention period might be better as close of case + 6 years rather than date of accident.

Subject: CCTV - retention?

Hi

Just talking to our Fire and Rescue service about retention periods for CCTV images. There is already a retention period in place for the bulk of the CCTV footage (i.e 28 days).

My question is about how long do others keep CCTV footage that has been dowloaded for potential criminal, civil, insurance investiagation purposes?

My assumptions so far are;

·         If it is a criminal investigation it will be transferred to relevent agency within the 28 days.

·         So the next level of risk is property damage (i.e a fire appliance hitting a car or barrier) which leads me to a retention period of 6 years from the date of the accident for content related to accident/collision.

All thoughts and comments welcome

Thanks
