Postdoctoral Research Associate

Department of Biostatistics, Institute of Translation Medicine, University of Liverpool, UK.

Salary: £32,277 to £34,233pa

We are seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on an MRC funded project “Joint modelling of multivariate longitudinal and event time outcomes in clinical research”.

The purpose of this project is to (a) Develop a novel but sufficiently flexible joint modelling approach for multiple longitudinal biomarkers and correlated event time outcomes aiming to provide individual-specific predictions of clinical events, (b) Exploit applications of multivariate longitudinal-event time joint modelling in pharmacogenetic association studies allowing for the influence of dose and adherence, and (c) Implement the methodologies in R language. The research is developed around two collaborative health-related disciplines: Biomarkers for early diagnosis of sepsis and Genetic predictors of response to warfarin treatment, aiming to inform clinicians a better understanding of the disease dynamics and the most optimal decision of patient’s treatment at that current follow-up.

The project is a cross-initiative between the Department of Biostatistics (led by Dr. Ruwanthi Kolamunnage-Dona), Statistical Pharmacogenetics Research Group (led by Dr Andrea Jorgensen) and School of Computing at Northumbria University (led by Dr Pete Philipson).

You should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in statistics or mathematics (or a related discipline).  Relevant experience in the use of statistical packages such as R is essential. Professional development will be supported and appropriate training will be provided to the successful candidate.

The post is available for 3 years initially.
