Dear all

(Sorry if you see this more than once)

EU mandate M436 has been bubbling away in the background for almost seven years now but there are signs that it may be about to bite unsuspecting EU libraries using RFID – and librarians – quite hard.

EN 16570 and 16571 were published during the second half of 2014 as part of the EU’s commitment to ensuring the privacy of EU citizens. The UK organisation Book Industry Communication (BIC) has today issued an advisory message to its membership concerning what actions, if any they should now be taking. You can read their advice here.

For those who can’t get enough of RFID issues I’ve added some thoughts of my own on my blog at http://www.mickfortune.com/Wordpress/?p=1209 .

Kind regards

Mick
