Hello,

The Stonehenge cursus (not the lesser one) goes from one ridge to another.  This means one could see quite far if one stood on the bank of the shorter sides.  Couldn't there be a defensive aspect here as well?  Seeing far was not evident at that time and important in periods of trouble or warfare.  (I have made similar remarks on parts of the Carnac region last year.)
