Dear All, is it acceptable to send articles via ILL as electronic documents (.pdfs) as long as the following criteria have to be applied:

1. A copyright declaration form has to have been agreed to by the end user

2. The document must be printed and not accessed as an electronic article once the end user (not the library) has accessed it

3. The PDF has to be deleted from all computers through which it has travelled on its journey into being a paper document

Do you think emailing the PDFs to the recipient library with something along the lines of what's written above is sufficient to ensure we are in accordance with copyright laws in the management of materials?

Finally - would it be legally compliant to provide this service to all UK libraries, all EU libraries, or internationally?

Actually, my final point is - if you have anything to add to this conversation please would you share your thoughts?

Thank you,

For the best of that pop, whether folk or jazz or blues or the rock n' roll that was all rebellion, is always first and last about freedom - where 'about' connotes both 'to speak of' and 'to work towards' and where freedom means freedom from the muting cingula of circumstances, forces, norms. For early rock, these norms were most often generational, the forces ideological - a person of the mind that the Young Democrat or teen heard, finally felt in the music was escapable... simply because the music was the escape. - Signifying Rappers, DF Wallace
