About the role:

You will provide GIS input into projects for all of LUC’s services areas – including planning, ecology and landscape planning and management projects. Your work will be varied, and will include map production, digitising, geographic data analysis and reporting.  This is a fixed term (6 month) role which will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to develop and enhance their GIS skills in a consultancy environment. The role may be extended to become permanent. The post is based in London but there may be opportunities to work with LUC teams in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol.

About you:

If you have the following qualifications, skills and experience we would like to hear from you:

ESSENTIAL
GIS or related degree at a 2:1 or above 
Practical (employment) experience in data processing and analysis using GIS, Access and Excel
Experience of applying GIS analysis to landscape, planning and wider environmental issues
Experience of ESRI software products, particularly ArcGIS 10, with Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst
A proactive, organised and effective approach to your work and an appetite for diverse projects
The ability to work efficiently and respond quickly to meet deadlines, whilst working on a number of projects simultaneously
A good knowledge of using UK environmental and Ordnance Survey datasets

DESIRED
Knowledge of other GIS or CAD software 
Knowledge of graphics packages (Photoshop, InDesign, etc)
MySQL / SQLite database skills
Experience of developing open source web mapping solutions
Willingness to undertake photography for LVIA projects (requires a valid driver’s licence – photography training would be provided)
Experience / interest in reporting on your findings
