The Practice of Evidence-Based Medicine
April 14 - 16 2014
Rewley House, Central Oxford

This workshop will enable participants to:
Formulate answerable questions
Search effectively for evidence
Critically appraise evidence about treatment, prognosis, diagnosis and aetiology for its validity and applicability
Understand the basic measures of efficacy such as numbers needed to treat and likelihood ratios
Understand the basics of decision analysis, guidelines and cost-effectiveness analysis


This workshop is intended to serve as an introduction to evidence-based medicine. It is aimed at clinicians and other health care professionals working with humans and animals who wish to gain knowledge of critical appraisal and experience in the practice of evidence-based health care.
