Effectiveness Bank alert. Welsh naloxone plans endorsed by results from demonstration schemes

Welsh naloxone plans endorsed by results from demonstration schemes
Based on demonstration schemes, in 2011 Wales began a national programme to train drug users to use naloxone and to supply them with kits containing the drug. Naloxone reverses the effects of opiates and making it widely available has the potential to curb rising overdose deaths. Results from those schemes were seen as enough to justify national rollout, despite being derived from the small minority of trainees who returned for a replacement kit.
