Hi Joe,

We have an old version of MediaSite; our system does video and screen capture, producing a combined result – see:

We have a Building Block installed, but I tend to just add URL links to the videos from Blackboard.  Our version is quite old and requires specialist hardware for the capture; I believe there’s a much more up-to-date system which uses capture software.  We’re going to look into this.

For our general video catalogue we use Planet eStream, which has proved to be extremely good.  It has excellent Blackboard integration; a MashUp is provided by a Building Block which works in exactly the same way as the Youtube one.  Our eStream system also has a freeview television recorded, and comes with eSign, a digital signage system, which we’re starting to make use of.  They are a very helpful and responsive company to work with.

Best regards

Chris

Subject: Tripleplay vs Mediasites Integrations with Blackboard

Hi,

We are looking at a video solution partly to take several gigabytes worth of video out of Blackboard. We are considering Tripleplay or possibly Mediasites from Sonic Foundry. Would anyone have any insights to these products, particularly from the integration with Blackboard software.

Mediasites is a late contender which we have not yet investigated, but hoped for some information from the community. Any advice on either product would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Joe
