*** Sorry for x-posting***

Dear colleagues,
The SOEP team would like to draw your attention once more to the possibilities of the SOEP Innovation Sample (SOEP-IS) and encourage you to also consider using this instrument when developing new empirical research questions.

The SOEP-IS is suitable for short-term experiments, but primarily also for long-term surveys which are not possible in the core SOEP—for instance, because they require instruments that are not yet established or deal with very specific research interests. The SOEP-IS allows researchers at universities and research institutions worldwide to use this sample for particularly innovative research projects, to help design the list of questions, and to analyze the data shortly afterwards. Submissions from doctoral students are particularly welcome.

As of the survey year 2013, the contents of the SOEP-IS will be entered in a peer-reviewed competition to identify the “best” research questions, which will then be implemented, and the dissemination of data from the SOEP Innovation Sample will be integrated into the data provided by the SOEP Research Data Center and made available to external users as an autonomous dataset.

Fieldtime will be between September and December, 2014. 2013 nearly 5,000 people in 2,850 households will take part in the study. Some of them answered SOEP core questions since 1998 or 2009; so we already have a rich dataset for the prospective SOEP Innovation Sample.

Researchers interested in this should contact the SOEP Survey Management with a project outline by November 30, 2013 the latest.
We will be pleased to advise you prior to submission of official application (please note the deadline of December 31 each year).

See www.diw.de/soep-is and the attached file for further information.

Please send your proposals to [log in to unmask] or contact David Richter ([log in to unmask]) for more information.

Please feel free to share these information with any colleagues who might be interested.
