Football And Archives - A Training Afternoon For Heritage, Community And Creative Professionals

         WHAT:  A study day for heritage, community and creative professionals on engaging creatively with football archive materials.

The London Metropolitan Archives (LMA), The Black Cultural Archives (BCA) and Spread the Word (STW) have partnered with Kick It Out, football's equality and inclusion campaign, to create two special free events: a youth day which will include a football tournament for the students and a training day for professionals.  These events will mark the Kick Racism Out of Football organisation's 20th anniversary.

LMA is delighted to invite you to come and participate in the professional training workshop on Monday 16 September.

         The workshop will include the following:

*       Keynote talk by the founder of Kick It Out, Lord Herman Ouseley
*       Panel debate. "Racism no longer exists in football" True or False?
*       Display of archive materials from LMA and Black Cultural Archives (BCA) collections documenting the origins of Kick It Out and showing change and progression in football through the years.
*       Chance to work on a campaign activity with future London Youth Poet Laureates through Spread the Word
*       Tour of the archive
*       Time to network with colleagues
*       Plenary discussion with Rodney Hinds, Sports Editor, The Voice newspaper
