Dear All,

with less than a week to the abstract submission deadline, we would like to invite submissions to this session at the Fall AGU Meeting, 9-13 December, 2013, in San Francisco, USA.

Abstract Submission deadline is August 6.

T036 - The Geodynamics of Plate Tectonics

Plate tectonics are ultimately driven by Earth’s interior dynamics, although their interactions at regional and global scales remain in many ways enigmatic. Sinking slabs and upwelling plumes drive mantle mixing, geochemical differentiation, and planetary cooling, but also generate forces that drive plate motions and tectonic deformations. Links between plate tectonics, subduction and mantle convection govern global geodynamic processes such as the Wilson cycle, plate reorganizations, and continental evolution. This session will examine the integrated dynamics of surface tectonics and planetary interiors by combining contributions from a range of disciplines including geodynamics, planetary science, tectonics, petrology, geochemistry and seismology

Our Invited Speakers are:

Thorsten W. Becker, University of Southern California, USA

Marin Clark, University of Michigan, USA

Richard F. Katz, University of Oxford, UK

Gabriele Morra, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA

and the Conveners are:

Fabio A. Capitanio, Monash University, Australia

Clinton P. Conrad, SOEST, University of Hawaii, USA

Dave R. Stegman, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD, USA

Stuart Clark, School of Research and Innovation AS, NO

my apologies for multiple posting
