IRMS Conference 2013 - "Big Data, Open Data"

There are just 10 days to go until the industry-leading IRMS (Information & Records Management Society) Annual Conference lands again in Brighton from Sunday 19th to Tuesday 21st May. The main theme for the conference this year is "Big Data, Open Data", with a focus on how the ever changing varieties, volumes, velocities and values of large and complex data sets are impacting the information and records management world and how the roles and responsibilities of those people working with them are evolving.

To celebrate the IRMS' 30th anniversary, the conference programme for 2013 is richer than ever, featuring keynotes being provided by Lynne Loomes and Roger Thompson (SCISYS), Simon Davies (LSE, founder of Privacy International), Tony Ageh (BBC Archive Development) and Chris Davies (Intelligence), alongside 5 concurrent breakout sessions covering a wide range of topics including Information, Data and Records Management, Information Assurance, Enterprise Information,

Business Intelligence, Governance, Risk & Compliance, Information Security, Data Protection, Freedom of Information and more. Last year, the conference attracted over 300 delegates from more than 20 countries around the world, and featured a rich educational programme and training stream, an exhibition filled with industry-leading suppliers and fantastic social and networking events including the feature gala dinner of which the highlight was an inspirational talk by Olympics legend Sally Gunnell. This year we are excited to announce that the guest speaker at the gala dinner will be Rt Hon Jack Straw MP. During his periods as Home Secretary and Lord Chancellor, Mr Straw was responsible for a number of major constitutional changes, including the Human Rights Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000, and Data Protection Act 1998.
