LAUNCH INVITATION May 1-3, 2013 410 Wharfedale Road, IQ Winnersh RG41 5TS The Cumberland Initiative is proud to announce that it is creating a national centre as a laboratory for models of care. Backed by NHS organisations, universities, industry and clinicians, we want to develop a predictive, instead of reactive, NHS. We aim to Transform the quality and cost of NHS care delivery through systems thinking. Secure significant economic stimulus through new products, systems and services. You are cordially invited to join us at one or more of the following family of events during the launch week in May. These include: Better ways to manage unscheduled care (May 2nd) This workshop brings together a mix of clinical managers, simulation companies and academics to demonstrate how a combination of better process and simulation support can make an impact in this needy field. Keynote speakers: Russell Emeny, Director, Urgent and Emergency Care Intensive Support Team, NHS IMAS Dr Andrew Fordyce, Torbay Hospital Laura McLay, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA Peter Lacey, CEO, Whole Systems Partnership Professor Sally Brailsford, University of Southampton Professor Paul Harper, Cardiff University Master Class in Systems Thinking (May 3rd) This workshop offers an overview of problem structuring approaches and a chance to hear about the latest simulation packages. Keynote speakers: Claire Cordeaux, Simul8 Professor Con Connell, University of Southampton Dr Jonathan Klein, University of Southampton Products and pathways for a value-sensitive world This public interest forum will present the latest in value thinking, following nearly a decade of research by the MATCH consortium into measures of cost effectiveness in purchasing technology and commissioning services. Keynote Speakers: Professor Richard Lilford, University of Birmingham “Cost-effectiveness: moving products to service evaluation” Paul Runeckles, Merck-Serono “New business models for better pathways” Plus: The Cave This is an interactive space where simulations and models will be running with the opportunity to talk to commercial and academic specialists. As part of this service, several universities are offering a Masters project over the summer to take on a project that you define during your visit to The Cave. To enable commissioning and trust teams to explore in detail, the three days will be split into 45 minute sessions during which you will have access to a simulation specialist.
