Hi all, We deal with medical data a fait bit at the Archive. Our advice on anonymisation covers quant and qual data in general that contain disclosive identifiers, whether direct or indirect. http://www.data-archive.ac.uk/create-manage/consent-ethics/anonymisation?index=0 Our resources link to some useful guidance and pointers on this, including the medical sphere: http://www.data-archive.ac.uk/create-manage/consent-ethics/resources Best, Louise From: Research Data Management discussion list [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Stephanie Suhr Sent: 11 February 2013 14:54 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Risks of de-anonymizing data Importance: High Hi James, Although this is definitely on our radar, in www.biomedbridges.eu<http://www.biomedbridges.eu> we're not advanced enough to advise on this - but maybe the social sciences colleagues at www.dasish.eu<http://www.dasish.eu> could be of help, or www.p-medicine.eu<http://www.p-medicine.eu> concerning medical data? We'll be preparing some RDM training for medical researchers shortly, and it would be good if we knew a bit more about the issues involved. Is this even something worth worrying about (I'm not very familiar with medical data)? Could any of you point us in the direction of any advice? Yours All, James --- Dr. James A. J.
