Fanatic - what makes the modern football fan?

Ear to the Ground would like to invite you to a panel discussion, taking place at the National Football Museum in Manchester on Wednesday 21st of November 2012, from 1pm-3pm.

Experts from the worlds of sport and academia will discuss the unique characteristics of the football fan, focusing on the psychology of fan culture and fan networks. The panel will examine whether there is a unique psychology to a football fan base and how fans are influenced as part of a collective experience.

The panel will be moderated by high profile event speaker and ex-editor of North West Business Insider, Michael Taylor. Michael will be joined by a number of panellists including Stuart Roy Clarke, renowned sporting photographer; Professor John Hughson from the University of Central Lancashire and Director of the International Football Institute; Dr Anna Semens, Director of Development (Football Industry Group) University of Liverpool; Ben Smith, Football Correspondent for BBC Sport; and Steve Smith, MD of Ear to the Ground.
