St. Mary's University College are organising, in collaboration with the Strawberry Hill Trust, a season of Gothic films this autumn. This selection of classic and modern films is to be screened fortnightly on Tuesday evenings at 7.45pm in the College's new state-of-the-art 'cinema' (currently the G5 lecture theatre). The schedule is as follows: 25th September Double bill: Castle of Otranto - (Svankmajer) and Frankenstein (Whale) 9th October Night of the Living Dead (Romero) 23rd October Gothic (Ken Russell) 30th October Nosferatu (Murnau) - Piano accompaniment by Wendy Hiscocks - in the Waldegrave Drawing Room 6th November The Fall of the House of Usher (Corman) 20th November Sleepy Hollow (Tim Burton) 4th December Bride of Frankenstein (Whale) Season ticket: £25 (£20 for UB40, F/T students and FOSH members) Booking: www.strawberryhillhouse.org.uk/events.php, then click on 'September'. There'll be a short talk before each film, and the opportunity for discussion in the bar afterwards.
