King's College London seeks a Legal Compliance Officer to play a key role in the College's compliance with information legislation.
Summary
Based in the Governance and Legal Affairs Management Directorate, you will play a key role in ensuring the College's compliance with a range of legislation. The Legal Compliance Officer post has a focus on information legislation (the Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act and the Environmental Information Regulations), but may involve work in other compliance areas to meet service needs.

You will be responsible for co-ordinating the College's responses to Freedom of Information (FOIA), Data Protection (DPA) and Environmental Information (EIR) requests. You will also manage the legal compliance enquiry and research service, responding to enquiries and requests for advice (primarily from College staff) on FOIA, DPA, EIR and related issues. You will develop and deliver training, guidance and web resources on information compliance under the direction of the Legal Compliance Manager, and will undertake research and produce reports, statistics and analysis as required. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in other areas of the Team, including equality and diversity, governance and student conduct and appeals.
You will have a proven track record of experience of handling FOIA, DPA and EIR requests in a similar role, and an in-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulatory environment. Well-organised, with excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills and excellent research skills, you should have a flexible approach and a willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities.

Salary
The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications, within Grade 5 currently £28,327 - £32,445 per annum inclusive of London Weighting allowance.
