Apologies for cross-posting Please circulate UK People's Health Assembly 10 - 11 July 2012 Nottingham Trent University is delighted to be hosting for the first UK People’s Health Assembly. The aim of the Assembly in Nottingham is to create a forum for individuals and organisations to come together to discuss the continued development of a ‘health movement’ in the UK. The assembly will invite a range of groups and stakeholders to come and participate in a big discussion about health, justice and the state of democracy – and how health and health equity provides an important and strategic platform for action. The Nottingham Public Health Assembly is being developed as a ‘mirror’ event, to coincide with the third global Public Health Assembly being held in Cape Town from the 6 – 11 July, which we will link up with during the assembly. The assembly will not be run like most other conferences, innovative methods will be used to facilitate discussion which many of you may not be aware of. The emphasis will be on group interaction, which will take many forms, including workshops, open space discussions, videos, podcasts, dramas. These will be supported by inputs from speakers on the various topics, which are all based on the People’s Health Charter. The Assembly will end with the development of a draft manifesto, which will form the basis for ongoing discussion as we develop and build the UK Public Health Movement. Business as usual won't take us to where we want to go, but together, as a diverse collective of people with a broad range of skills and knowledge and a shared vision, we can build momentum to achieve a healthy society. Participated in the formation of the Global People's Health Movement. Richard Taylor - Medical Doctor and Independent Member of Parliament for Wyre Forest between 2001 and 2010 Why attend?
