Postdoctoral Position in Genomics of Cardiovascular diseases The INSERM UMRS 937 is an international leader department in genetic research, with emphasis placed on the disentangling of the genetic architecture underlying cardiovascular diseases. Developed programmes covered all scientific aspects related to genetic research including molecular biology, cellular biology, statistical genomics and bioinformatics. The INSERM UMRS 937 will recruit a post-doctoral bioinformatician/biostatistician for a research programme relying on a large-scale population study (the Gutenberg Health Study) combining data from genome-wide DNA and RNA chips and a wide range of clinical and biological phenotypes (not exclusively cardiovascular). The post-doctoral researcher will participate in collaborative projects based on these data, in close link with Pr Blankenberg's group (University Heart Center of Hamburg) who is the main investigator of the Gutenberg Health Study. In parallel, the post-doctoral researcher will have the opportunity to develop his/her own research programme. Although the genetic and transcriptomic data available for this project are derived from the microarray technology, an evolution towards next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies is foreseen. Motivated candidate would have a PhD in bioinformatics or in statistical genetics (or equivalent experience). He/she should demonstrate strong abilities to work independently, strong interests in genomic data analysis and good communication skills. Experience in the analysis/manipulation of large datasets is required. A biological background is highly appreciated. French language skills are not a prerequisite. The selected candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including experienced scientists in molecular and genetic epidemiology, but also a dynamic group of graduate/PhD students. The INSERM UMRS 937 is located at the center of Paris and is part of the Pierre and Marie Curie University Campus, the first cutting edge research French University offering a high-level scientific environment, including a NGS platform. It is also a team of the Institute for Cardiometabolism And Nutrition (ICAN) which brings together a large community of researcher, clinicians and industrial partners entirely dedicated to stimulate fundamental, clinical and translational research in the field of cardiometabolism disorders. Position is full-time and initially restricted for two years. Positions are immediately opened and candidates should submit CV to Dr Laurence Tiret ([log in to unmask]). You may leave the list at any time by sending the command SIGNOFF allstat to [log in to unmask], leaving the subject line blank.
