That is a very pertinent point-perhaps we should also lobby for a reduced fee for new registrants?

You make a valid point, Catherine.
Although my medical, legal and architect friends have to pay far more to
aintain their registration they have significantly higher earning potential
ver the life-time of their careers. In addition, a number of their
mployers contribute to their fees, and/or membership of professional body
hich gives professional indemnity insurance. That is not generally the case
or nurses.
Those of us who have progressed up the career ladder are more able, but
erhaps not very willing, to pay more for their registration. Newly
ualified members of the profession are less financially secure.
