Hi

Yes in my role there are occasions where home visits are required. I also am accompanied by Human Resources personnel. I usually ask if they would like to talk to me privately initially but most are quite happy to speak openly about their condition with Human Resources present. Generally it is more about how it impacts on their ability to perform in their role than in depth discussion about their illness/condition. We cover a huge area so it is not always possible for people to travel to attend on site. I would never see someone in their home without an escort. As an alternative I have on occasions met someone in a café near where they live if they do not wish to see Human Resources. This has worked well but Human Resources still need to be involved at some stage.

Home visits are usually long term sick and nearing a decision to made about their employment hence Human Resources involvement.

Cheers H

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Home visists

Dear All
Previuos OHA's in my role have attended home visits accompanied by personnel if an individual cannot attend site. I personaly have concerns about this due to confidentiality. Plus in some instances it rienforces the "sick role". Where possible I do telephone consultations but sometimes you need to see the white of there eyes if you know what I mean.
What does everyone else think and what suggestions do yo have as alternatives.

Look forward to your answers.
