Dear All,
The following book is available for review on the Language and Ecology Research Forum:
Authors: Ingkama Bobby Brown and Petter Attila Naessan
Title: Irrititja – the past
Publisher: Keeaira Press
Year: 2012
Further
details:
Antikirrinya is a small Yankunytjarra-speaking group in the north of
South Australia. ‘Irrititja – the past’ builds on and expands on
cultural ecology and linguistic ecology by outlining various ecological
changes and socio-political processes and their implications for
Antikirrinya culture and language. It adds to existing documentation of
Aboriginal culture in Antikirrinya-Yankunytjarra and in Aboriginal
English, by privileging the storytelling of Antikirrinya elder Ingkama
Bobby Brown. In drawings and verbal accounts, he outlines core aspects
of an Antikirrinya ethos, a culturally specific way of looking at
plants, animals, people and how they influence each other.(see also http://www.kpress.com.au)
