The National Organization on Disability (NOD) is seeking a creative and energetic Development professional to work closely with the President/CEO and Board to raise private philanthropic funds from foundations, corporations, and individuals. The job is an exciting growth opportunity for the right individual, providing a high-level entry point and immediate face-to-face work with donors and Board members.

 

Responsibilities 

 

The individual will report directly to the President, part of a management team of 5. The individual will be supported by a Development and Communications Associate. Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and implement an annual fundraising plan focused on private foundations, corporations, and individual donors. Provide timely updates and forecasts quarterly.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with philanthropic partners. Prepare for and conduct fundraising visits with President/CEO and/or Board members.
  • Staff the Board Development Committee, leveraging their networks to support NOD and achieving Board development goals.
  • Work with program staff to determine funding needs and help match program activities, both current and future concepts, with potential sources of funding.
  • Secure new donors through research and prospecting, networking, and cultivation.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database on current and potential funders and activity.
  • Draft and oversee funding proposals, concept papers, letters of introduction and presentations for fundraising meetings.
  • Provide timely reporting to all funders; ensure proper stewardship of funds.
  • Manage the key fundraising communication pieces and collateral materials including electronic and print newsletters, social media, website updates, and an annual report.
  • Supervise the Development and Communications Associate, who assists with grantwriting and reporting to funders, maintaining donor database, and tracking both proposals and funder reporting deliverables.
  • Identify and hire outside vendors and consultants to assist on specific tasks, such as design of collateral materials.
  • Coordinate funder cultivation events.

 

Qualifications 

  • 4-6 years of progressive fundraising/development or marketing/sales experience with proven track record. Comparable experience will be considered.
  • A strong self-starter, highly motivated, creative, and capable of working one-on-one and in groups with senior level business leaders and foundation executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior program staff who are subject matter experts in their respective fields.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and presentation development skills.
  • Strong interest in and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and in small organizations.
  • Skilled in organizational and project management with attention to detail.
  • Experience with eTapestry or Raiser’s Edge fundraising software a plus.
  • Supervision experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Masters degree in a related field (marketing, nonprofit management, business administration, communication) is a plus. 

Salary: $70K-$85K, or commensurate with experience
