Revised draft regulations for the public sector equality duty in Scotland announced
The Scottish Government today (Friday 9 March 2012) announced revised draft regulations for the public sector equality duty. The revised regulations can be found as an Annex to the Scottish Government's response to the specific duties consultation:

The regulations aim to be laid before Parliament later this month

Key changes
The six elements of the duties remain, with some key changes. A summary of these changes can be found on pages 6 and 7 of the Government's response to the specific duties consultation:

These include:

            Publishing: The latest date by which institutions will have to publish their equality outcomes, mainstreaming report and gender pay gap is now 30 April 2013

            Mainstreaming: Clearer detail of what the mainstreaming requirement aims to deliver

            Impact assessments: Revised wording regarding proportionality which aims to ensure that all new policies and practices are screened.

Further information and support
ECU will produce a briefing for Scottish HEIs and colleges on the public sector equality duty in Scotland once they have been brought into force. We will also run workshops in Scotland to develop existing knowledge within the sectors on how to meet the duties. Further details will follow.
