The NHS has to wake up to the fact that it needs to do things smarter, instead of whinging about the number of FOI requests, it needs to be more open and transparent. yes this means the NHS has to anticipate the kind of requests it will receive, yes it will have to publish more to the public domain. At the moment public authorities like health trusts can only charge those making FOI requests if the cost of reply exceeds £450.
