Senior Policy Officer

£28,000 - £30,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience, 3 year fixed term contract

The Academy of Medical Sciences is seeking a talented and experienced policy professional to influence medical science and careers to improve health and wealth in the UK. This will involve working closely with the Academy’s Fellows and other world leading medical scientists to generate high quality, evidence based written material.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of policy issues in medical science, healthcare or careers. They will have knowledge and experience of the UK policymaking process; the ability to work with experts to develop policy positions that can set the policy agenda; experience of managing and delivering projects; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The senior policy officer will be independent, self-sufficient and, willing to work flexibly within a small and close-knit organisation. Commitment, enthusiasm and a willingness to face new challenges are key attributes. First class written and verbal communication skills are essential.

 

The closing date for receipt of applications is midnight on Monday 12 March 2012. We expect interviews to be held at the Academy offices in central London on Wednesday 4 April 2012.

 

 

Policy Officer

£24,000 - £26,000 per annum, 1 year fixed term contract

The Academy of Medical Sciences is seeking a talented individual to join its policy team who wishes to build a career in medical science policy. The postholder will help the Academy influence medical science and careers policy to improve health and wealth in the UK. This will involve working closely with the Academy’s Fellows and other world leading medical scientists to generate high quality, evidence based written material.

The policy officer will be independent, self-sufficient and willing to work flexibly within a small and close-knit team. Commitment, enthusiasm and a willingness to face new challenges are key attributes. First class written and verbal communication skills are essential. The postholder will be able to apply their analytical and organisational skills to plan and prioritise work, often to tight deadlines and with a meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate will also have some experience and knowledge of medical science and/or biomedical careers policy, as well as the policymaking process in the UK.

 

The closing date for receipt of applications is midnight on Monday 12 March 2012. Interviews will be held at the Academy’s offices in central London on Wednesday 21 March 2012.
