italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies



The School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures at the University of Manchester expects to offer a maximum of 4 AHRC awards in the following discipline areas: French Studies/German Studies/Italian Studies/Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies/Linguistics and English Language for a PhD starting in September 2011. The awards will cover full-time fees and maintenance for three years. Furthermore, the School will offer a variety of internal funding opportunities for outstanding PhD candidates. The Italian Department at Manchester is one of the largest Italian Departments in the UK with six research active members of staff and a substantial postgraduate community. Members of staff in Italian at Manchester engage in truly interdisciplinary research and are willing to supervise on a wide variety of topics in the fields of cultural history, linguistics, literature, history of the book, visual culture, Renaissance culture, cinema studies, history and Dante studies. Interdisciplinary and transnational projects are welcome, since co-supervisions can be arranged across one of the largest School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures in the UK (http://www.llc.manchester.ac.uk/research/). Co-supervisions with colleagues in History, English, Media studies and Art History are also possible.
