The advisor wanted to conduct the assessment with the individual by phone, didnt go well funnily enough. Employee nominated me to speak to the advisor, i got a letter that stated that the assessment was difficult because the advisor couldnt understand what the client was saying. I spoke to the AtW bloke, all about how the employee needed to respond to things verbally on occasion, that he didnt want to retreat into a speechless world just yet etc etc 5 minutes into the conversation the obviously disnterested advisor asked me if I had considered getting him to do all his communication via Email (ooooo I hadnt thought of that Oh wise one.....) and then said "Contact BT, no need for me to meet with the client. I`ll give you a ring in a couple of weeks to see how you`ve got on"Even though my employee has significant speech problems the words that followed were very clear indeed.....

In case of problems, please call your organisation’s IT Helpdesk.Hi Sharon,I'm sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with ATW.I have recently used them with 2 clients; one with a hearing problem and the other with a visual one. In each case they brought in a specialist advisor and I, and the employee, had nothing but praise for them. I recall that all calls are taken centrally so it can't be a regional thing.Hope you resolve you case soon.Kind regardsAllison
Sent from my iPhoneI am trying to source some help for employee with speech problems, he has a rare form of MND, we regraded him to an admin post which he is enjoying greatly but has significant speech issues. His main problem is using the phone, which he obviously keeps to a minimum but has considerable difficulty in making himself understood. We have looked at Text relay systems,
Please dont anyone mention Access to Work as the throbbing vein on my temple may explode, I have never encountered such a disgraceful attitude and have complained
