Training day on Bookbinding for Conservators and other interested professionals

An exciting opportunity to participate in this training day on the many and varied facets of Bookbinding.

Delegates will be able to see demonstrations on turning corners with vellum and sewing headbands - both sessions will be interactive with delegates having the opportunity to participate themselves.

In addition the training day will also include a presentation on the history of tacketed bindings and a case study on the conservation a 19th century illuminated pattern book.

This training day is a great opportunity for Conservators to meet, learn, network and swap ideas.

Venue - East Riding Archive and Local Studies Service, Beverley, East Yorkshire

10.15am - 10.45  Arrival, registration and refreshments

10.45 - 11.45  Julian Thomas, Bookbinder and Conservator - Sewing Headbands including interactive session

11.45 - 12.30  Ian Maver, Conservation Officer - The History of Tacketed Bindings

12.30pm - 12.45 Questions

12.45 - 1.45 - Lunch

1.45 - 2.45  Linda Barone, Senior Conservator -  Turning corners with Vellum (Demonstration and non - adhesive interactive)

2.45 - 3.15  Antony Oliver, Conservator -  Case Study: Conservation of an illuminated 19th Century Pattern Book

3.15 - 4.00pm  Discussion session plus tour of archives building

4.00pm - Close of Training Day

This training day is restricted to 12 places on a first come first serve basis.
