The Faculties of Sciences & Life Sciences at the University of Reading are jointly holding a studentship competition for International Students (defined as non-EU/EEA). We encourage applications from candidates wishing to complete a PhD in the Cognitive, Affective or Social Neurosciences at the CINN. Each studentship will provide a subsistence grant (normal UK research council rate) as well as the University tuition fee (full-time international at Reading) for 3 Academic Years. Candidates should possess a 1st class Honours degree or equivalent in Psychology, Neuroscience or a related discipline. An MSc with Distinction or progress towards such an MSc would be an advantage. Applications will be judged in a 2-stage procedure. In the first step, the School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences will select the strongest 2 submissions to the school. These will then be submitted to the Faculty Deans, who will select the highest quality candidates who have strong research plans for a topic compatible with the University's Research Strategy. The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics ( http://www.reading.ac.uk/cinn/ ) occupies a dedicated wing in the School of Psychology & CLS building at the University of Reading. It houses a 3T Siemens Trio research-dedicated MRI scanner and high-density EEG laboratory. These facilities are complemented by high resolution stimulus display systems with integrated high-speed eye tracking, MRI compatible EEG and TMS systems. Research at CINN involves the neural mechanisms underpinning complex cognitive and affective behaviours, with particular strengths in affective neuroscience and the neural mechanisms of perception and action. Interested candidates should send an email with a brief statement of research interests and a CV, including details of nationality to: Tom Johnstone Centre for Integrative Neuroscience & Neurodynamics School of Psychology and CLS [log in to unmask] http://www.personal.reading.ac.uk/~sxs07itj/index.html Closing date: Friday the 25th of February.
