Working with Young Offenders
On 2 March Creating Capacity is offering Inclusive Services: working with young offenders. This practically-focused course will be of interest to anyone in a cultural heritage setting, including libraries, museums or archives, who is working with – or planning to work with – young offenders and their families. The course will set the background in terms of who young offenders are and the kinds of experiences they will have had.
By the end of this interactive and practical session you will have an:
o Awareness of the background to offending, the experiences that young offenders and their families may have had
o Understanding of the criminal justice system as it affects young people
o Understanding the role that cultural heritage organisations can play, for example in motivating learning, supporting literacy, assisting in finding and using information
o Sharing good practice, and building on that to develop personal and organisational action plans
