Working with Young Offenders

On 2 March Creating Capacity is offering Inclusive Services: working with
young offenders. This practically-focused course will be of interest to
anyone in a cultural heritage setting, including libraries, museums or
archives, who is working with – or planning to work with – young offenders
and their families. The course will set the background in terms of who young
offenders are and the kinds of experiences they will have had.

By the end of this interactive and practical session you will have an:

o Awareness of the background to offending, the experiences that
young offenders and their families may have had

o Understanding of the criminal justice system as it affects young
people

o Understanding the role that cultural heritage organisations can
play, for example in motivating learning, supporting literacy, assisting in
finding and using information

o Sharing good practice, and building on that to develop personal
and organisational action plans

Anne Harding and John Vincent. Anne is an independent trainer who
specialises in effective provision for children and young people in
libraries, museums and the education sector. John coordinates The Network,
advocating the role of the cultural sector in social justice; disseminating
information; and running practical training courses. Both Anne and John work
to support the needs of practitioners working with young offenders.

Cost: £135 plus VAT including all course materials, refreshments and 3
months post-course support.

Venue: Derry Hall, Derry House, Penfold Street, NW8 8HJ

Interested? Then book online or call me on 07985 659425 for more
information. Interested but not able to attend? Then consider our in-house
training packages. This will support team development in a way that's
really focused on your organisation's needs. It's a practical alternative
when training, travel and subsistence budgets are reduced.

Kind regards,
