Applications are invited for a one-year post as Portal/VLE Development Officer, based in the e-Strategy section of the University Library. The University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and its Portal are closely integrated in order to provide a seamless and efficient working environment. A VLE Upgrade Project is running over the 2010/11 academic year, which is a major piece of work to move from Blackboard 7 to Blackboard 9.1. It is crucial that the two systems continue to work effectively together, and this temporary post has been created to work across the Portal and VLE teams to ensure this happens.

You will have a degree or equivalent qualification with comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of web systems and web-based technologies. You will also have advanced Java (JSP/J2EE) programming skills, a working knowledge of Databases, SQL, XML, HTML, XSLT, and JDBC, and will possess excellent technical problem-solving skills.
