Dear all, I have just visited a Bath resident who has a collection of shells which he wishes to dispose of. His name is Mr Ogle and he is selling the antique cabinet but can't find an auctioneer who will take it with the contents. Apparently this is due to fears raised by the conviction earlier in the year of an auctioneer who sold an Edwardian collection of birds eggs (http://www.antiquestradegazette.com/news/7475.aspx). They are part of the Paull collection, gathered by Mrs Paul of Bosvigo, Truro. There are several hundred specimens (at least 20 drawers), they are clean and in excellent condition and a number are identified. They do lack provenance and other collecting data however. I am contacting you with Mr Ogle's permission as we have no expansion space for these specimens, and though there are some very fine specimens that we do not have I would not wish to split or cherry-pick the collection! I should emphasise that he is keen to know quickly as he is selling the cabinet at the end of the month.
