Surrey Tourism Conference - 'Advancing the Social Science of Tourism', 28 June - 1 July 2011, www.surrey.ac.uk/tourism2011

Dear Friends / Colleagues.

Please find attached the final call for papers for the 2011 Surrey Tourism Conference www.surrey.ac.uk/tourism2011

We hope that this conference will attract papers (on any aspect of tourism) that are firmly embedded in one or more social science disciplines - thus laying an emphasis on theory as well as context.

Our guests include:

·          Prof Christopher Rodrigues: Chair of Visit Britain

·          Dr. Jafar Jafari: Co-Editor of Annals Special Issue on Tourism Social Science (1991, Vol 18, No.1)

·          Prof Annette Pritchard: University of Wales Institute Cardiff

·          Prof Andrew Holden: Author of “Tourism and the Social Sciences”

All of whom will engage with the social science theme from their special perspective.

The conference takes place in an academic setting at the attractive Surrey Campus with plenty of on-site accommodation and easy access to LHR, LGW and Central London.

We especially wish to welcome, make feel at home and network new researchers.

Of course we also extend a warm invitation to our old friends too.

We are planning the programme which we hope will be as inclusive as possible, so there is a conference activity planned for each night of the conference:

1st night = reception then eating in local restaurants

2nd Night = BBQ

3rd night = Conference Dinner

And we have a campus bar open for socialising / networking.

Plus we will have a local, no cost ,low carbon, post conference activity: The more the merrier.

What's more you can catch great UK conferences in the same week - The Critical Tourism Studies Conference follows directly after at UWIC in Cardiff, Wales www.uwic.ac.uk/wctr

Very much look forward to hosting you at Surrey.

Best Wishes,

John
