My study back in 1990, together with others, has shown no difference between glucose and glucose polymer in GTT tests. M. It is true that Polycal has less osmotic effect, but I would be more concerned about absorption effects of using this than a little added CO2. Surely there is an added enzymatic breakdown step (even though it may be a quick one) which is not present in the standard Glucose tolerance test. I'm not sure carbonation is part of the standard GTT protocol either - might it affect absorption. Many people in the UK use Polycal because it has less osmotic effect and thus less "post excess 4X" effect Weighing strikes me as the best suggestion so far. Here in Australia we have at least two companies that do that for us and sell them by the case at less than a dollar a bottle. The 75 g/L bottles are flavoured to stop the sweetness from causing unwanted "reflux" and loss of dose. Both doses are carbonated. Its trouble free!
