From another office, which should also remain anonymous: The Friends
annual Christmas card.

And how many business deposits have that well loved accessory of a
departed senior staff member. I recall 'Mr Graham's pencil' from one
collection. Not to mention to part smoked Churchill cigars....

But museum colleagues are much more inclusive. Birds nests and lots of
mid 20th century domestic bills (when one such collection would more
than suffice)....

In a previous office we had an index card (so presumably part of some
accession record) that read - in its entirety - 'letter, not dated,
illegible'

And from an office that should probably remain anonymous, a cornflakes
box and a yoghurt pot (both without contents).

Last Sunday I took in a very doubtful accession - from someone
who has been responsible for making sure we have one of the most
important estate archives here.

The front cover was inscribed 'Sussex Churches' and the first
page had six photos (sepia) of some interior sculptures in the
cathedral.

That was it. The rest of the book was missing.

It was a done deal because someone had bought it from a car boot
sale specially for this office, and the person who passed it on was the
intermediary. She had said how nice the sepia photos were to the
original donor. My colleagues weren't very happy...

However, it compares well with the picture of the cat who died
in Steyning, and the photo of bricks in Balcombe viaduct, both of which
have been accessioned.

	Can anyone beat these?

Think sustainably. Do you have to print? Can you double side? Do
you need colour?
