This is the first of two
workshop sessions provided by the London Museums Hub, aimed at helping museums
improve the way in which they manage information. Looking beyond the collections,
but retaining a museum-specific focus, these sessions will draw on best
practice and case studies taken from the London Hub Information Management
Project to help participants begin the process of identifying and addressing
information management issues in their museums.
Improving information
management is in effect change management and it is therefore important to
obtain an organisational mandate ahead of the process of change. This half-day
session will:
· Introduce
you to the London Museums Hub Information Policy Framework
· Outline
some of the approaches that can be used to obtain a mandate for an information
policy in your museum
· Step
through the process of writing, agreeing and implementing your information
policy.
It is a participative workshop
and will include the review and analysis of real-life information policies from
a range of organisations.
It is aimed at staff with
responsibility for any aspect of information management within their museums,
particularly those with responsibilities across their organisation.
The session will be
presented by Alice Grant Consulting Ltd.
