medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Although the studentship listed below is a generic one we are particularly looking for a good candidate in the field of medieval history or Reformation studies, to work with myself, Dr Katherine Lewis or Dr Sarah Bastow.
 
PhD studentship in History at the University of Huddersfield
 
History at Huddersfield has a vibrant postgraduate research community, with around 20 doctoral students and 10 academic staff. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise judged 45 per cent of our research as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent'.
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in History of £6,000 a year plus fee waiver at Home/EU rates (or £3000 for international fees). Up to £1000 a year will be provided for conference attendance and research expenses.
Applicants must have at least an upper second class undergraduate degree in History and must either possess a good MA (merit or distinction level) or be completing an MA course with a strong probability of obtaining this result.

Also available: fees only bursary (at Home/EU rate or £3000 for international fees) on the history of the Yeomen Warders at the Tower of London.
The successful candidates will be required to undertake unpaid teaching for no more than six hours in any week or unpaid research assistance up to 80 hours in one academic year. Teaching will comprise seminars and tutorials where the content has already been outlined by the module leader and appropriate resources identified.
