Further to this, we have recently
contacted OFSTED about this issue and received the following response, we are
hoping to canvas responses from our partner schools and may issue this to
students entering schools to ensure there is no confusion. Any feedback around
this would be welcome.

Subject: ****** Teacher Training
Trainees CRB Clearance - For the Attention of Tia Kirkland
Dear
Ms Kirkland
Thank you so much for your help this afternoon and further to our discussion I
would be most grateful if you could email confirmation that OFSTED would accept
trainees bringing their equivalent CRB clearance from ******* plus an affidavit
from ********** University in order for them to enter schools in the UK and
participate in Teaching and Teaching Assistant duties for two weeks in June
2010.
Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

I was also
confused about how the host institution is able to sign section Y on the form.
I have sent a
copy to the CRB for their comments.

This document is a little scary and really
goes against both good practice with the CRB and a chunk of current TDA
guidance.
We cannot guarantee that the disclosure
will be turned around in 6 weeks, nor will it be worth the paper is written on
as they will never have been resident in the UK and they will already be
presenting an appropriate certificate from France what more can a UK CRB
disclosure add?
We would want to see all the documentation
that was used to complete section X on the application, as at the end of the
day we are the ones who are putting our CRB signatory necks on the line.
The TDA also state that applicants are not
obliged to show the school their CRB so why is this now different? The
disclosure that is returned to the institution is for the institutions files
and the applicant gets a copy also so why would we give our copy to the
student?
How is this different from any EU student
who has applied to the UK for an ITT programme, yet there is little guidance
there as to the process for achieving suitable disclosure, should we now adopt
this for all our EU/Overseas students as being an example of good practice? I would
hope not!
I would be interested in knowing if the
document has been agreed with the CRB, and also who was consulted on this.

Hi
I wondered if
anyone else had seen the attached guidance from the TDA regarding CRB checks
for MFL exchange students.
I noticed a
couple of issues, comments appreciated.
