At the ceremony, the Mayor's Medal was awarded to another 13 outstanding civilians - and one organisation - for their individual contributions to community development, cultural affairs, sport and conservation.

Amongst these were: Shamiel Davids<http://www.capetown.gov.za/en/PublishingImages/News%20Images/Shamiel_Davids.JPG>

Shaamiel is CEO of the Western Cape Therapeutic Community Centre and was the organiser of the South Africa Therapeutic Community Conference, 2009. He is currently Chair of the task-group AfricaTC, which was set up following that conference with a view to establishing an African Federation of Therapeutic Communities.

Well done Shaamiel! Our best wishes to you and your family.
