  Kathryn,

  Thanks for your post.

You could put up a "WE LOVE THE OBAMA NATION" sign, just kidding.

Considering Obama announced today that he is opening up for the first time oil drilling in northern Alaska, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, and the entire Atlantic coastline - the majority of which have been protected under a drilling moratorium - I might have to agree with the stop message!

These pre-Earth Day 40th Anniversary anti-environmental acts are on top of spreading propaganda for the nuclear and coal industries - specifically repeatedly promoting and saying "clean coal" and "clean nuclear" as if that is a reality. On top of this - and our friends on this list in Europe are already aware - Obama has for months been stockpiling an arsenal to attack Iran - see: http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/world-news/final-destination-iran-1.1013151 - and of course increasing by tens of thousands the troops in Afghanistan "the war worth fighting".

He's doing a good job upsetting the radicals on both the left and the right, which some would say means he's doing a good job, I see it more like a "fist full of dollars" strategy, that for good or bad is making big stuff happen, in what appears to be preparation for bigger stuff that "they" know is going to happen (paranoia or truth, right?).

As far as being upset with Obama goes, be it left or right or somewhere in between, it is not so much paranoia I believe, as it is based on some very real huge policy choices that Americans and the rest of the world will have to live with for the rest of their lives - and that is really upsetting folks. Sure that can lead to paranoia, but the changes afoot, are unprecedented.

Add onto that the yoke of religious dogma and you can watch the paranoia sparks fly. It is interesting to note, that unwittingly or not, you included both Obama and 666 in your post, which is a large part of right wing religious fueled paranoia.

    Dear All,

Just thought I'd update you on the small-town America political paranoia locally here on our street, since it relates to religious freedom.

Right across the street from us, a "STOP OBAMA" sign went up in the front window a couple of months ago. They have added an American flag as part of their permanent decor on their house; and today flying on the same pole is a bright yellow flag bearing a coiled rattle snake saying "Don't Tread on Me," and the initials NRA---National Riffle Association.

Next door to them, a friendly couple recently moved in as renters, since the owners had to move and couldn't sell their house in this economy. I was outside bringing in the trash bin this morning, and the new neighbor came out and asked me if the house they are renting used to be numbered "666" . . . ? I answered yes, come to think of it. And now the house is clearly numbered "700," probably because the owners had to change the number in order to rent it---similar to the no 13th floor rule in hotels.

She wanted to ask me about the numbering, since yesterday a policeman had come to their house because someone called in to the station with a complaint of some kind about house 666 on ________ Street. A Catholic friend of hers had asked if she wanted her house exorcised.

Paranoia, or truth? . . . Depends on the worldview.

    All Best,

    Kathryn
