Progression to the maximum of the salary range will be dependent on performance 

Purpose of role: The main role is to undertake epidemiological research contributing to specific time limited projects over a three year period. Projects will be undertaken using the General Practice Research Database and other database resources from the UK and elsewhere. The role will involve the undertaking of specific tasks including administrative tasks, data management tasks, analysis of data, report writing and documentation. The work will be within the overall GPRD research team and under the guidance of a project leader for the specific projects involved. 

Key responsibilities: 

Undertaking and present analysis for GPRD research projects and internal projects 
Assistance with the development of processes and procedures for the utilisation of new data resources 
Presentation of GPRD as a high quality research services organisation 
Contribution to the routine research service activities of the GPRD Research Team 
Contribution to GPRD wide initiatives 

Essential criteria to apply: (shortlist and interview criteria) 

A post graduate degree or equivalent in a related scientific discipline 
Experience of undertaking epidemiological research employing observational databases and a familiarity with basic epidemiological principles 
Refined analytical thinking and the ability to understand and resolve complex issues into appropriate solutions 
A proven ability to provide analysis using large data sets, on either SAS or STATA analysis software 
Good interpersonal skills, a highly motivated proactive approach and a strong team player 
Proven ability to work under pressure and take responsibility for own work
