Several PhD positions are now available in the Complex Systems in Biology Group in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. There are a variety of projects available involving modeling / simulation / bioinformatics / biostatistics. The position would suit candidates with a strong background in mathematics / physics / computing, who require no previous experience in biology. The group currently consists of 12 scientists, and is highly productive, publishing 15 papers in 2008. However , students must either be eligible for ‘local student’ enrolment (in which fees are waived for Australian residents / citizens), or provide their own funding for the University tuition fee of approximately AUD30,000 p.a.
